Big Thompson Outfitters (BTO) Rules & Regulations

Fishing Opens March 1st - November 1st

Upon Arrival to the club area:

  1. Register by texting your name and number of people in your party to 785-230-8400 or 970-420-5137 when you arrive.
  2. Respect the privacy and property of other members using the club.
  3. Do not interfere with any farming/mowing/seeding etc operations and all vehicles must stay on the road at all times.
  4. Members must be with their guest or family while at BTO fishing club. Each Head of Household can bring guests without the other member. (ex husband can bring his parents/guests while wife’s working and vise versa)
  5. All Members and Guests must sign a liability waiver before using the property for club approved activities.
  6. Members can use the designated Paddle boats, Belly boats and Canoes at the boat ramp. Please return all boats to the same area as you got them.


Night fishing:

  1. Is allowed until midnight, however fishing in your boat we require wearing a life vest at all times and a
    text when you go out in your boat and a text when you come back to shore. Please follow the same
    rules listed Upon Arrival to the club. Please be safe and communicate with us to ensure your safety.
    You must have a signed liability wavier before going out on the lake. No Exceptions! Night fishing is at
    your own risk.


Upon leaving the club area:

  1. Please return club boats that are available for member use to the boat ramp. (where and how you found them please).

  2. Text a complete record of fish caught and kept to 785-230-8400 or 970-420-5137 before leaving.
    (this is vital information for future fish stocking and fish limits, we are working to make it the best fishing in the state with your help)

  3. Clean up after your-selves, family and your dogs (if applicable) and dispose of all trash in the dumpster provided.

Boat Requirements

  1. Boats must be registered and insured. Members must provide a copy of registration and boat
    insurance on their boat with membership application or before brought onto BTO property.

  2. Life jackets are required for all children under the age of 18 and recommended for all. If adults
    choose not to wear a life vest it is at your own risk. All children MUST wear a life vest.

  3. Liability waivers must be signed and turned in before going on to the lake. (No Exceptions)

  4. Members are allowed to keep their boats on the property for their membership year under
    the following conditions. Member’s boats must be insured and it is at their own risk.

 

Other Rules/Regulations:

  1. All boating is wake less (THE LAKE IS A NO WAKE ZONE) until further notice. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

  2. NO WEAPONS of any kind. No guns, bows etc. BTO is a family club with children and their safety is the most import thing for us.

  3. Vehicles must stay on the road at ALL TIMES to the best of your ability, so not to disturb new seeding.

  4. Dogs are allowed and if you would like to use the lake to train your dog or let them swim that is fine,
    however under no circumstance can your dog disrupt another members fishing experience. You must
    put them on a leash immediately, if another member arrives. If there is one complaint about your dog,
    you will no longer be able to have your dog off leash. Your dog must be non- aggressive to be on the property at all.

  5. No ATV’s or Motorcycles Allowed.

  6. Guest Policy – Members are allowed to have 2 guests per visit whether it is friends or family. First visit
    is no charge after that it is $20.00 per person and all visitors must have a signed guest liability waiver
    either emailed to bigthompsonoutfitter@gmail.com or jam2finance@yahoo.com before arrival or
    dropped off to Dustin or Jamie Christensen, before use of property. (No Exceptions) Guests must be
    accompanied by the Member bringing them on every visit.

  7. Members are responsible for all of their guest’s actions. No Exceptions.

  8. Keeping fish- Members only are allowed to keep fish, however there are limits and this will change
    yearly based on the growth in fish population, spawning, etc. Household limits for this year is 10 per
    day. (Example if a member and the whole family catch 30 crappie you can only keep 10 crappie for
    dinner please put the other 20 crappie back for another day. A member could keep 10 Crappie, 10
    Perch, 10 Blue Gill, 3 Walleye, etc in one day. If you have questions please ask.

  9. Limits per day (members only per household)are as follows:
    1. Crappie -10 per day must be 10 inches or bigger to keep.
    2. Perch- 10 per day must be 10 inches or bigger to keep.
    3. Blue Gill -10 per day must release if 11 inches or bigger.
    4. Walleye -3 per day Any Walleye less than 15 inches or over 22 inches must be released.
      1. (3 Walleye between 15 and 22 inches)
    5. Trout -2 per day over 24 inches must be released.
    6. Bass - All Bass must be released; Bass over 15 inches must be released.
    7. Catfish -2 per day under 24 inches to keep.

  10. No Illegal Drugs, NO Glass bottles. No underage drinking allowed. You agree to drug and
    or alcohol testing if you are involved in an accident or altercation on the property. (this is for liability
    and insurance reasons only).

  11. The consumption of liquor/alcohol which becomes offensive/obnoxious to other
    members, their family, guests, and owners of the property is forbidden. When, in the
    judgment of another member, it becomes a hazard or a safety issue, it will constitute grounds for
    expulsion.

  12. Any damage to club property report ASAP to 970-420-5317 (Dustin) or 785-230-8400 (Jamie) or text so
    that it can immediately be addressed.

  13. Glass bottles are never allowed on the property or in boats for any reason because of safety concerns
    for people and animals.

  14. Members may not use the private property of other members without that member’s permission. If
    you are unsure of what you can use, please just ask.

  15. No fires or burning of any kind.

  16. Camping is limited to Mothers Day, Fathers Day and Labor Day weekend’s Friday thru 5pm on Sunday.
    Any member wishing to camp must submit a request in writing ahead of time with the number of
    guests camping. The space is limited so first come first served.

  17. Big Thompson Outfitters reserves the right to change the Rules and Regulations at any time without
    notice and any changes will emailed to all members and will be effective immediately.

 

Big Thompson Outfitters is not responsible for personal injuries or accidents of any kind that occur on the property.
This is includes members, spouses, children, guests, animals and personal property.
